I recently found out that I am more at risk for Huntington's than I thought. (My Dad is not showing symptoms at 60, but recently got tested and is gene positive.) Ever since I found out, I feel like I have all the symptoms--my arms and legs have been shaking (maybe from anxiety!) but I am convinced that the chorea is starting now. Could anyone share tips or techniques that you use when you find yourself symptom hunting? Thanks so much!
I know that when I have an eye twitch, spazzy muscle or forget something I would begin to symptom hunt, especially because I tested gene-positive when I was younger. I find the best solution is to check in with yourself and really guage other options like not sleeping or eating well the day before.
Other people really credit physical activity or meditation to help them because they really begin to pay attention to their limits and understand their bodies.
Hope this helps!
Thank you so much for your response, Chelsie! It is really helpful to hear your perspective. If you don't mind me asking, did you find that you symptom hunted more or less after you found out your result? That is one of the things I am really considering as I decide whether to get tested. Have a wonderful rest of your weekend!
