Do any of you feel that you are young carers? Remember, to be a carer can involve looking after someone all day or it may just be that you clean the dishes, or help out around the house, or watch someone for a little while.

If you feel you are a carer we’d like to hear what kind of things you do and how you feel about being a young carer?

Hello, I am a young carer. What I do to help my mom is drive her to where she wants to go, fill out important paper work and do pretty much everything on my own. I tell her when to schedule my appointments. I let her do that because I don't want to her to feel like she can't do anything.

Hi Lena & Ashley,

Thanks for sharing your experiences of being a young carer... it can be a quiet group, but there are so many young carers out there (especially in HD families). It is great to hear from you both and see how things are for you at the moment.

Ashley you mention that you lose your temper a lot with your father. What kind of things do you lose your temper with... could you provide some examples?

What made this week such a horrible one for you?

Take care,
Matt

I am a young carer and also a full time mom.
I take care of all my father's medical and money.
Since my mother can not do it anymore.

Hi Crystal,

Welcome to the HDYO forum! Thanks for sharing your story with us.

You must be very busy being a caregiver for your father and a full time mom. What sort of help/support do you get from friends and family? It can be overwhelming dealing with it on your own. How are you feeling?

You mentioned your mother cannot take care of your father anymore. I was wondering if you are taking take of both of your parents?

Thanks again for sharing ☺

Cheers,

Ally

Hello
I like take care of myself as a carer for HD in family, and also try to do everything I enjoy. Not sure if that is the answer to what I'm good at or not, but I do it my way and try to learn from people that want to learn me :)

Also to have many impulses is a good part of me that I wouldn't take away... It's been good at HDYO family they want to give people enthusiastic their way, like a good way :)
