Q. What to do when someone is getting angry for no reason and starts shouting abuse?
Kerhys, 9, UK
A. Dear Kerhys
Thanks for your email. I guess the “someone” in your email is someone with HD in your family. The most important thing to do for you is to make sure a responsible adult knows what’s going on and to make sure that you are safe. I don’t think it would be a good idea to get angry or shout back at them. It’s much better to try and get yourself out of the situation.
People with HD can sometimes get angry at the slightest thing because they have difficulty in working out what’s going on around them. Sometimes if this happens in HD, there are medicines they can take to make things better.
