What is the youngest recorded age for HD symptoms?

Q. What is the youngest age recorded, of someone having symptoms for Huntingtons Disease?

Tyler, Teen, UK

Ask a question

A. Dear Tyler,

Thanks for this very thoughtful question.

The youngest person I ever heard about with the symptoms of HD was 2 years of age. I don’t know if this was ever published in a scientific journal but it was told to me by a very reliable work colleague.

The youngest person with HD symptoms I’ve ever seen in my clinic was 13 years old.

This is a very rare thing, most people don’t start obvious symptoms until their 30s and 40s.

Best wishes

Hugh Rickards
