Ask a question

A. Hi Andrew,

Thank you so much for your question. My name is Chandler and I am the youth worker in the United States. HDYO is here to answer any questions your may have or provide any support you may need in regards to HD.

As for your question: most people die of a complication due to HD rather than from HD itself. This could mean a number of things. People that have HD, especially in the later stages, have a weakened immune system so they often get sick easier than you or I might. This also means it may be harder for their body to get better. What someone without HD may be able to get better from is much harder for someone with HD so they often die of national causes or an illness unrelated to HD.

I hope this answers your question. Please feel free to reach out if you have any further questions or we can support you in anyway. We are always here to talk and listen at HDYO.

Take care

Chandler
