A. Hi Kylee,

Thanks for the question, which is a tricky one.

Not everyone with HD gets mad quickly, but it’s true that a lot of people with HD can get more tetchy and irritable.

There are a bunch of reasons why this might be so. I think the main one is that people with HD tend to become reduced in their abilities to process a lot of information and, particularly these days, we live in a world where multi-tasking is the norm. Also, people with HD can struggle with seeing other peoples’ points of view if they are different from their own, so that can lead to them getting angry.

Irritability can be caused by a number of physical problems too; pain, hunger, constipation and infections can all make you “short-fused”
